FDD Action Applauds Congressional Support for Trump Administration’s Iran Dismantlement Policy in House and Senate Letters

WASHINGTON, D.C. – FDD Action today praised members of Congress in both chambers for rallying behind President Trump’s policy of complete dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear program. More than 220 Senate and House Republicans signed a letter to the president in support of the policy.

The bicameral effort, led by Senators Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Ted Cruz (R-TX), and Tom Cotton (R-AR) in the Senate and by Representatives August Pfluger (R-TX), Ben Cline (R-VA), and Zach Nunn (R-IA) in the House, reinforces the administration’s policy: no enrichment, no weaponization, and no more nuclear games from Tehran.

The letter garnered broad support among Republicans in both chambers, signaling strong congressional backing for the Trump administration’s strategy as high-stakes negotiations with Iran continue.

52 Senate Republicans signed the letter, including Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Jim Risch (R-ID), and Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Roger Wicker (R-MS). 177 House Republicans joined the letter, including House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (R-FL) and House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL). The overwhelming support makes clear that dismantlement is the only acceptable path forward.

The letter highlights the critical flaws of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the Biden administration’s decision to walk away from maximum pressure. It further emphasizes the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) loss of verification access and calls for a deal that completely eliminates Iran’s enrichment and weaponization capabilities.

“President Trump is right to insist on the full dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear program, including both enrichment and weaponization capabilities, and a clear majority of Republicans in Congress support this standard. This congressional letter sends an unmistakable message to the regime in Iran: no more loopholes, no more enrichment, and no more games,” said Nick Stewart, Senior Director of Government Relations at FDD Action. “The only acceptable outcome for U.S. national security is the complete dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, coupled with accountability for Tehran’s other malign activities. We commend Senators Ricketts, Cruz, and Cotton, as well as Representatives Pfluger, Cline, and Nunn, for their leadership on this important, bicameral effort.”

FDD Action strongly supports continued congressional engagement to ensure any future deal aligns with U.S. national security interests, the administration’s dismantlement objective, and addresses the full range of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s malign activities.
