Today, July 11, 2024, The Vandenberg Coalition and FDD Action led a letter signed by Advancing American Freedom (AAF), Christians United for Israel Action Fund (CUFI Action), National Union for Democracy in Iran (NUFDI), The Philos Project, Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), Texas-Israel Alliance, United Against Nuclear Iran Action (UANI Action), Veterans on Duty, and Zionist Organization of America (ZOA).
This letter, endorsed by bipartisan foreign policy and advocacy organizations, urges U.S. policy makers to refocus U.S. efforts to counter the Iranian nuclear program which is closer than ever to weaponization. The letter also provides a comprehensive list of recommendations for U.S. and allied policy makers to degrade and reverse Iran’s nuclear campaign, deter Iranian terror, empower Iranian dissidents, and ensure American defenses are adequately resourced.

“The Iranian regime has already taken too many American lives through both terrorist proxies and direct action. It is vital that a future administration re-establish deterrence to ensure no more Americans end up as victims of the Iranian regime.
The Biden administration’s weakness in the face of Iranian aggression has emboldened the regime to unprecedented levels of escalation, from orchestrating the October 7 massacre, to launching hundreds of missiles directly at Israel, threatening American and allied maritime vessels in the Red Sea, and getting as close to a nuclear weapon as they have ever been in history. History has proven that America is safe when America is strong, and these proposals will return America’s policy to a much-needed peace through strength approach.”
– Carrie Filipetti, Executive Director of The Vandenberg Coalition
“The United States must stand firm in its resolve to address the Islamic Republic of Iran’s destabilizing and destructive activities. The regime’s relentless pursuit of nuclear capabilities, its support for terrorist proxies, and its human rights abuses demand a comprehensive and decisive response. FDD Action is proud to join a wide range of stakeholders who care deeply about our nation’s security to urge U.S. policymakers to act. This includes steps to degrade the regime’s nuclear capabilities and reduce its access to financial and other resources, which Tehran uses to fund terrorist proxy wars across the Middle East. It also includes measures to support the freedom-seeking people of Iran, bolster regional alliances, and stand with critical allies like Israel. We call on all Americans to recognize the urgency of this threat and to support robust actions to safeguard our national security and uphold the values of freedom and democracy.”
– FDD Action
“It is no secret that Iran is the puppet master behind Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, and that when the United States shows strength, Iran is deterred…The past nine months have shown us that caving to Iran can only lead to war; reviving the nuclear deal is a grave mistake. The United States must show strength, it is the only way to reestablish peace.”
– Tim Chapman, Incoming President of Advancing American Freedom
“How many people have to die before we acknowledge the universal truth that, concerning Iran, appeasement will always fail? The Obama-Biden approach has failed. Iran’s nuclear and missile programs must be brought to their knees. As the horrors of 10/7 clearly show, failure in this endeavor is not an option.”
– Sandra Hagee Parker, Chairwoman of the CUFI Action Fund
“The Islamic Republic’s chants of “Death to America” are not a slogan. It is state policy. This policy has not changed and this regime cannot be reformed. But America does have an ally in Iran, the Iranian people. The solution to the 45-year threat of the Islamic Republic is maximum pressure on those who chant “Death to America” and maximum support for those brave Iranian freedom fighters who chant “Our enemy is right here, they lie when they say it’s America!” Peace in the Middle East passes through the people of Iran.”
– National Union for Democracy in Iran (NUFDI)
“Iran is the greatest threat to peace and stability in the Middle East, to Israel and its neighbors, and to America’s friends across the region, including Christians. Only Iran and its terrorist proxies want perpetual war. We know from recent history that a maximum pressure campaign can contain Iran, prevent Iran from sending weapons to Hezbollah and Hamas, and slow Iran’s development of nuclear weapons.”
– The Philos Project
“A vigorous, serious debate about Iran policy needs to be part of this year’s presidential and congressional campaigns. Candidates in both parties should be encouraged to run on these ideas and asked to state clearly what they propose to do about this growing threat to America — and to the regional enemy the mullahs call the ‘Little Satan,’ Israel.”
– Matt Brooks, CEO of the Republican Jewish Coalition, and Senator Norm Coleman, Chairman of the Republican Jewish Coalition
“The United States is in need of a comprehensive strategy to counter and isolate the Islamic Republic, while supporting the Iranian people. Implementing these recommendations will result in a long overdue reset of U.S. Iran policy away from the failed JCPOA paradigm.”
– United Against Nuclear Iran Action
“Veterans on Duty is committed to supporting a stronger and safer America—both at home and abroad. The Islamic Republic of Iran and its terrorist proxies have killed U.S. service members, attacked our allies and partners, and pursued nuclear weapons…The United States needs a new, comprehensive strategy to address the threat from Tehran and restore deterrence in the Middle East.”
– Jeremy Hunt, Chairman of Veterans On Duty
“We welcome this letter from multiple organizations calling on changes to U.S. policy regarding Iran due to the evil actions of the Islamic Iranian regime in every corner of the middle east. They are behind the Nazi-like atrocities of Hamas, the terrorist aggression of Hezbollah, and the threat to the international seaways posed by the Houthis. U.S. policy must deal more forcefully with the reality that Iran is the common element working towards evil in the region.”
– Morton A. Klein, National President of the Zionist Organization of America
